The beautiful Northern Wey Valley countryside around Northbrook which is very close to the northern boundary of the South Downs National Park would be spoiled by the building of 800 densely clustered homes with the accompanying employment and facility buildings.

The new settlement is within a few yards of registered ancient woodland and close to the floodplains of River Wey. There is significant potential damage to ancient woodlands and to local biodiversity, where no attempts have yet been made to assess the impact.

Campaign to Protect Rural England (Hants) has confirmed that the area south of the A31 at Northbrook (close to the South Downs National Park) and the listed buildings and their immediate surroundings constitute "valued landscape" which under Government rules should not be developed.
