ENVIRONMENT AGENCY CHIEF: AVOID BUILDING NEW HOMES ON FLOOD PLAINS

Building new homes on flood plains in England should be resisted if at all possible, the head of the Environment Agency Sir James Bevan has said.  He said where there was no alternative, homes should be made more resilient, for example by using ground floors for garages so people stay safe upstairs.

RESIDENTS CAPTURE THE IMPACT OF STORM DENNIS

High winds and rising water levels were back for round two last weekend, as Storm Dennis swept across the area.   After the weather warning was upgraded from 'yellow' to 'amber' on Sunday, rain lashed down on the Farnham area, resulting in flooding of major roads and water meadows.
